Battersea fire live: Updates as flames engulf block of flats and 70 firefighters rush to the scene



A large fire has broken out at on the 20th floor of a block of flats in South London as 70 firefighters rush to the scene.

According to London Fire Brigade (LFB) the fire broke out on Westbridge Road in Battersea earlier on this evening.

Ten fire engines are currently dealing with the fire which broke out on Tuesday (October 12) with emergency cordons in place.

In a tweet at around 8.30pm LFB wrote: “Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters have been called to reports of a fire at a block of flats on Westbridge Road in #Battersea.”

In video shared on social media the fire appears to be concentrated at the top of the building and appears to be quite large.
