Anna Maxwell Martin is a rising star with stand out roles in BBC’s Motherland and Line of Duty she has become a fixture on our TV screens.
The actress who has appeared regularly in two of the BBCs best loved shows has shown her knack for playing both comedy and serious roles landing herself a BAFTA for Best female Comedy Performance for Motherland.
She is also a renowned stage actress and was married to a top director who may not at first sound familiar but has been behind some of the best loved British movies and rom coms.
Roger Michell has a string of movie credits to his name including, Venus, The Mother, Enduring Love, Le Weekend, My cousin Rachel.
He made his made his movie debut with Jane Austen adaptation Persuasion in 1995, but is best known for directing Notting Hill in 1999, one of the best loved British films of all time
starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant.
The film was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture. Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant also received nominations for their performances, while the film also earned two BAFTA nominations and is the highest-grossing British film of all time
Roger, 63,who was born in South Africa met Anna in 2003 when he cast her in a National Theatre production.
She played Sophie at the National Theatre opposite the late Corin Redgrave in the Australian play Honour in 2003.
The following year he cast her opposite Daniel Craig in the film adaptation of Ian McEwan’s Enduring Love.
The couple, who share two daughters Maggie, 10 and Nancy, 7, married in 2002 but announced they had split last in April last year.

Roger was previously married to Kate Buffery who he also has two children with.
Speaking of their split at the time Anna said: “Our marriage has ended and we’ve been separated for quite some time. I haven’t really spoken about it because it isn’t fair on all the people involved.
“Roger was and is very special in my life… When I met him he felt like my person, although things don’t always work out. But you get on with life.”
The director also revealed he once turned down the chance to direct one of Bond movies, speaking to the BBC he said: “I did give up directing the Bond film. And it wasn’t quite $8 million but it was a lot of money. It was because in the end I didn’t feel comfortable with the Bond process.
“I was very nervous that there was a start date but really no script at all. And I like to be very well prepared as a director.”
He went on to direct Hollywood road rage drama Changing Lanes before returning to England to make the low-budget, coming-of-old-age family drama The Mother.
