Chelsea wideman Christian Pulisic has said that he cannot wait to return to action having tested positive for Covid-19.
The American began his season in the best possible way last weekend by scoring in the 3-0 victory against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.
However, he will not be able to continue his great form with Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel confirming that Pulisic had tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of this weekend’s trip to the Emirates Stadium to take on Arsenal.
Speaking in a press conference, the German said: “Christian has, unfortunately, had a positive test and needs to follow the protocols. He’s not been training and is not available for the game.”
football.london understands that Pulisic arrived at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday ahead of an open training session, only to then be informed of his positive result and has been in self-isolation since.
The former Borussia Dortmund man took to Instagram on Friday afternoon to reassure supporters on his current health.
He wrote: “Hi all, Unfortunately I tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this week. Thankfully I’m fully vaccinated and I have no symptoms so far.
“Can’t wait to get back in action! Thank you for your support”
Having tested positive for the virus, the 22-year-old will now conduct a mandatory 10-day self-isolation period.
With that having begun on Wednesday, that means he will miss the weekend’s clash against Arsenal and is also likely to be missing from next weekend’s trip to Anfield to face Liverpool, with his self-isolation ending that day.
Pulisic’s next possible outing could come against Aston Villa on September 11, where he will hope to continue his positive form from the opening weekend of the season.
