EastEnders viewers say the same shocking thing as Gray Atkins visits his dying dad in a hospice

If we rewind the EastEnders clock back to last year before Gray Atkins murdered his wife Chantelle, the pair attended couple’s counseling.

During their session, serial killer Gray got very emotional as he explained his anger issues stemmed from his abusive father and that’s why he has huge outbursts of rage.

This left viewers of the BBC One soap convinced that his dad was violent towards his mother which has caused the solicitor issues later in life.

However, all is not what it seems!

During Friday’s EastEnders episode (September 17), a ‘concerned’ Gray visited his unwell father Alex after discovering he was dying in a hospice.

With the encouragement from Whitney Dean, the father and son came face to face for the first time in 10 years and it didn’t end well.

Whilst Whitney went to grab some coffees, Alex opened up to Gray about their family life.

He revealed that he would often neglect Gray, leave him and his mother alone while he went on work trips, and did all he could to ensure he didn’t have to be a father.

Alex then went on to reveal Gray’s violent behavior confirming the young child was responsible for putting his mother’s arm in a sling and giving her a black eye.

Gray eagerly passed the violent abuse off as accidents, but when Alex pointed out his obvious anger issues, things took a turn when Chantelle’s death was mentioned.

Alex questioned Gray, desperately wondering whether his violence had anything to do with Chantelle’s death.

Worming his way out of the uncomfortable conversation, Gray threatened his ill father, manipulating him into thinking what he was saying was delirium as he was so unwell before leaving the room.

However, viewers at home took to Twitter admitting they thought Gray was going to violently kill his bed-stricken ill father by suffocating him.

One person asked: “Hey did anyone else expect Gray to kill his dad EastEnders.”
