Good Morning Britain has been flooded with complaints after Richard Madeley hosted the show again alongside Susanna Reid.

Richard Madeley made the awkward mistake on GMB

Joined by former Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Susanna and Richard began to discuss the vaccine rollout outside of the UK.

Viewers were quick to point out that Richard made a significant mistake when he said: “It’s not just loading these boxes onto planes and flying them out to countries like Africa, we’ve got to have the infrastructure to be able to deliver the jabs haven’t we.”

Gordon responded: “Yes we’ve been working on that as well and we’re getting the money to give it to African countries so that they can build up their ability to administer the vaccines not just in the cities but in the rural areas and the small towns.”

Many viewers pointed out Richard’s slip up on social media, with one saying: “Jesus Christ. Richard Madeley just called Africa a country on #GMB.”

“FYI Africa is not a country,” tweeted another viewer.

While another said: “‘third world’ ‘countries like Africa’. Not sure Richard Madeley belongs on TV in 2021.”

Later in the show, the presenter split viewer opinion with his comments on climate change and the latest eco protests.

Susanna and Richard challenged former Green Party leader Natalie Bennett on the case of a woman who was left paralysed from a stroke after being stuck in the traffic caused on the M25.

While some supported Richard’s take, others criticised the presenter for what some see as his denial of climate change.

“Richard Madeley calling climate protests fascism AGAIN. And this guy is still on our screens why?,” tweeted one viewer.

“Richard Madeley has made interesting points about the climate change protests….. but his delivery is awful & toxic to the debate. Arrogant. Smug. Patronising,” said another.

Good Morning Britain continues on weekdays from 6am on ITV1.
