ITV Hollington Drive star who looks completely unrecognisable in role in BBC comedy

You might be wondering just where you recognise DS Parks in Hollington Drive from – and you will probably be surprised to hear that the serious detective has many years of comedy under his belt.

You might have seen Jim Howick when you’ve sat down to watch Horrible Histories with your kids, or when binging Sex Education on Netflix, or even in his appearances on Peep Show.

More recently, the 42-year-old has starred in the BBC comedy Ghosts, which he also wrote.

Alongside some of his Horrible Histories co-stars, he went on to create and star in the eight-part fantasy comedy series Yonderland, which aired on SkyOne in 2013.

Veering away from family friendly shows, Jim played Gerard Matthew in the award-winning sitcom Peep Show.

You might remember his character as Mark’s love rival for Dobby.

Remaining in familiar comedy territory, but with a police theme this time, Jim then acted as Gerry in Danny Boyle’s Babylon.

While most recently, Jim has starred as DS Parks in ITV’s Hollington Drive.

His character is called to investigate when a young boy goes missing in the seemingly idyllic suburb of Hollington Drive.

The latest episode of Hollington Drive airs tonight on ITV at 9pm.
