London Crime: Police appeal after girl, 15, dragged off the street and raped

A 15-year-old girl was raped in Stratford after a stranger came up behind her and dragged her down a footpath.

The teenager was walking along Montfichet Road, in East London, when the unknown male put his hand around her and led her away on Saturday, September 4, sometime between 9.30pm and 10.30pm.

The victim was then forced behind a bench and raped.

The incident was caught on CCTV and Met Police have launched an investigation.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward including some who may have walked past the incident without realising.

Police said they could be the “key” to helping piece together the moments before and after the assault and have released images of members of the public.

“If you recognise yourself in the CCTV images, or recognise someone you know, please call us immediately. Identifying these people could assist us in progressing the case.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting CAD 2309/05Aug. To remain anonymous contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
