Steffie Gregg: Raheem Sterling England T-shirt tribute was for woman, 26, who died after getting Covid

England winger Raheem Sterling lifted up his kit to show a message saying: “Love you forever Steffie Gregg,” after he scored against Hungary tonight (September 2).

Steffie Gregg was a social media influencer and businesswoman who died aged 26 from Covid-19.

She was also known widely amongst the online gaming community as Twitch streamer and her tragic death on August 31 sent a shockwave amongst her fans.

Steffie is the daughter of former race car driver Gary Gregg and sister of racer car driver Kyle ‘Speedy’ Gregg. She is also the niece of Dancehall producer Rvssian.

Alongside many other celebrities, Raheem Sterling has shared his love and commiseration for his friend.

It is believed the footballing star met Steffie through her work as a Jamaican socialite and being a popular member of the Upper St Andrew in Kingston community.

Raheem’s heritage is Jamaican.

His mother and father – who was shot dead in Kingston when Raheem was only two – are both from the Caribbean island.

Steffie died from Covid as she reportedly suffered from an underlying health problem of Lupus, which developed complications and led to her death.

At the time of her death, she reportedly had received one dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

She was airlifted to Miami for treatment this week but tragically died on August 31.

Other famous figures have paid tribute to Steffie, mostly on social media. Among them have been her famous uncle Rvssian.

He wrote in an Instagram post: “I feel helpless my little Steffie. I feel I failed you and couldn’t protect you from this… COVID is REAL, You don’t know until it hits home”.

He added: I lost you & daddy in the same week. You were one of the happiest persons Ever and always had a great vibe and you lit the room up with your energy.”
