As an actor, you probably dream of getting dolled up to play a glamorous, charming character with a full hair and make up team to make you look your very best.
But it seems as though the actors who play beloved characters that we know from our favourite soaps have to dress down for their roles.
From EastEnders to Coronation street and Emmerdale stars, My London takes a look at how those stars are very glamorous in a series of snaps compared to their on screen personas.
First up is Lorraine Stanley who plays fiery Karen Taylor on EastEnders who was first introduced to the soap back in 2017.
The mum of six is usually seen wearing a plain long top, whilst sporting a pair of plain jogger and having her hair tied in a bun on the top of her head.
However, this is the polar opposite of how her actress looks in real life.
The star, 45, couldn’t look further away from her character which shows from the recent picture she upload on her Instagram page.
As she geared up for the National Television awards, she wore her hair down for the occasion and rocked a bold red lip and long shimmery dress.

Shona McGarthy has been on our screens for what feels like donkey years now.
The actress made her way onto the square when she was a 17 year old teen back in 2008 and played naive Whitney Dean- the adoptive daughter of legend Bianca Jackson.
Her character has grown in confidence over the years and is now a very likeable Walford resident.
Shona, 29, is known for her bright red hair and away from the soap and is often seen dressing hair in extravagant styles when she isn’t playing Whitney and wearing a very bold makeup look.
This recent picture was taken from when she attended the 2021 National Television Awards.
Corrie fans will know Dolly-Rose Campbell for playing loud-mouthed Gemma Winter on the soap.
The actress joined Coronation Street in 2014 and is known for her bold and quirky dress-sense which identical to her personality.
Outside of her role, Dolly-Rose has a liking for sharp tailored suits and shirts, which she often rocks when not in Weatherfield.
Jennie McAlpine is an instantly recognisable face having played Fiz Brown since 2001 on Corrie and appearing in more than 2,000 epsiodes.
The 37 year old is known playing her outspoken character, and has been at the centre of some of the soap’s most iconic storylines.
On-screen Fiz wears a low maintenance hairstyle and outfits picked from a practical wardrobe whereas, in real life the mum-of-two is what can only be described as a glamour goddess.
Jennie often often rocks her curls loose around her face and struts her stuff in gorgeous jumpsuits, plunging frocks and heels.
Olivia Bromley is known for playing Dawn Taylor on Emmerdale and first joined the soap in April 2018 as part of a storyline but was soon made a soap regular.
The actress looks worlds apart from her character which shows in the recent pictures from National television award shows she recently participated in.
She was dressed in white dress for the NTA’s which wowed many of her fans when she took to the red carpet alongside co-star Bradley Johnson.
Isobel Steele plays trouble maker Liv Flaherty in Emmerdale which was up for best serial drama performance at the NTAs.
The actress first appeared on the soap in 2016 and is often seen wearing plain tops and denim for her role.
Outside of the soap, Isobel shows off a more glam look with her most recent being the all bright summer colours dress and heel combo she wore to the NTAs.
