Jeff Hordley is best known for his appearances on Emmerdale as ruthless hard man Cain Dingle.
Jeff, who has played the character on and off for over 20 years, is married to a fellow Emmerdale co-star who has also had roles in Doctors, Coronations Street and EastEnders.
Jeff met his wife Zoe Henry when they were at Manchester Metropolitan University School of Theatre’s production together in 1994.
Zoe, 47 and Jeff, 51 have both found long term success with roles on Emmerdale, with Zoe securing her part as vet Rhona Goskirk in 2001.
She would be a recurring character on the show until leaving in 2002.
Jeff likewise left the show between 2006 and 2009, before both made their returns to the soap within one year of each other.
The pair got married in 2003 and have two kids Stan, who is 10-years-old, and daughter Violet, who is 14.
Jeff discussed how the couple met in an interview with Soaplife magazine in 2011.
“We met at drama school in 1994, I saw Zoe and realised she was the girl for me,” he said.
He also explained why, despite starring on the same show, they aren’t on screen together.
“We don’t film at the same time so we can share the childcare.
“I don’t think we’ll ever have a storyline together – Cain and Rhona are too different.
“Cain thinks Rhona’s a bit of a snobby cow. For me and Zoe it works well.”
However, their onscreen animosity doesn’t detract from the couple being able to work together.
Zoe described their offscreen relationship as very supportive.
She wrote for The Sun back in 2019 that “It’s important to have a laugh in-between takes so upsetting stories don’t get you down too much.
“Working on the same show as Jeff, who plays Cain Dingle, also helps because if one of us is having a bad day then the other will completely understand.”
The couple often reveal their life together over social media, sharing pictures of their quirky cottages in the Yorkshire dales and their garden.
